The Zenobia Wreck

Hii,

in today‘s post I want to tell you, what it is like to explore the Zenobia shipwreck, and why it is worth a visit.

I was able to visit the wreck two days ago, I was so excited to jump into the water, not knowing much about the wreck itself. It was going to be the third wreck I am visiting since I started diving, I saw the „HTMS Sattakut“, the „US Liberty“ and now last the „Zenobia“.

Going under the surface, knowing that she didn‘t sink on purpose, was another feeling.

Here are some facts about the Zenobia wreck:

She sunk in the year 1980, after being a Swedish roll-on-roll-off ferry. She took 140 trollies down with her to 42m. The Zenobia wreck is also being referred to as ‚The Titanic of the Mediterranean‘. She sunk with not only trollies and cars on board, but food, games, military equipment, and telecommunication systems. She is now lying in front of the Larnaka harbour for fishing, in Cyprus.

While diving, you can see the trollies that sunk next to a huge ship. They look like small trollies out of a kid’s playroom.

I never thought I would be so fascinated by something that is not in its natural habitat underwater, especially because I am used to seeing a wreck with horrible visibility. But visiting her was a pleasure and I am doing it again.

What I think is sad though, is that the feeling of diving a wreck, is hard to describe with word or express in pictures. It just can not be captured in any way.

Oh, and by the way, it is possible to snorkel or free dive at the Zenobia shipwreck.

So if you are a diver or just love being in the water, I would more than recommend to go see the Zenobia wreck, lying in Larnaka in Cyprus. Visiting the Zenobia wreck on your trip to Cyprus is definitely a cherry on top.

With that said, I wish you a great day, evening or night.
